Jon Humphress
An Indianapolis native, Jon relocated to Evansville over a decade ago to pursue his goal of being a public defender at the Vanderburgh County Public Defender Agency. Starting out, he handled low level felonies including drug possession cases, operating while intoxicated (OWI), operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator (HTV), domestic battery, intimidation, fraud, forgery, and many other offenses. After gaining trial experience, Jon was entrusted to handle major felonies (drug dealing, sex crimes, weapon violations, violent crimes, and murder) where he gained invaluable jury trial experience. After years of successful jury trial experience, Jon took a position with the Warrick County Prosecutor’s Office. There, he gained insight and experience on how to handle a case from the State of Indiana’s point of view. He was in charge of the misdemeanor and traffic division, which included a very successful bench trial record. When he isn’t working, Jon enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, riding his motorcycle, watching movies, obsessing over the Indianapolis Colts, and following racing.
